WHAT WE OFFER

TMJ Disorder Treatment

The symptoms of TMJ disorders can include facial and jaw pain, headaches, clicking or “popping” when you open your mouth, and interrupted sleep. These symptoms are caused by conditions that affect the health of the joints between your lower jaw and your skull.

A comprehensive dental and facial exam can help determine the underlying and interrelated causes of the disorder. The treatment depends on the cause but is typically performed with a customized oral appliance you wear while you sleep. Other treatments can include a daytime oral appliance, palliative self care, or referrals to other medical practitioners such as a physiotherapist. In some cases, Botox injections by a neurologist can also help. However, most patients improve without any surgery or prescription medications.
